Further Reinforcing the Bilateral Cooperation
A partnership agreement has just been signed between the company of Industrial Equipment Maintenance “MEI” (Sonelgaz Group subsidiary) and the Brazilian Company Werner, Eggon and Geraldo “WEG” (through its French branch) which is specialized in providing global solutions for electric motors, starters, controls, transformers, generators etc. MEI and WEG France want to further strengthen their bilateral relationship in Algeria and then in the neighbouring countries.
The cooperation between WEG France and MEI is already taking place through maintenance, reparation and expertise operations, which range from standard overhaul to full engine rewind. As part of this new agreement concluded on the sidelines of the International Exhibition of Water Equipment, Technologies and Services (SIEE Pollutec) which took place from February 11 to 14, 2019, MEI has the exclusive rights to repair and after-sales services of medium-voltage motors after a homologation process as an authorized WEG service centre for this type of engines.
Therefore, MEI will intervene on more than 400 engines currently deployed across the Algerian refineries, according to repair processes in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
This agreement should give an additional boost to consolidate the strategic partnership between MEI and WEG, with a view to extending this cooperation to other equipment in the energy sector (alternators, turbines, wind turbines, solar power plants). As a result of this partnership, MEI not only has the exclusivity of WEG’s MT engines in Algeria, but it is also better placed to support WEG France in projects to be carried out in Algeria’s neighbouring countries and to intervene with it in different areas such as: WEG solutions installations, engines commissioning, frequency inverters, and electronic starters.
